A Beautiful Night in Paris with Elise Martimort
Posted on October 21 2019
We’re extremely lucky to work with some beautiful bridal shops around the world, and in recent months we’ve enjoyed getting to know Elise Martimort in Paris. Elise started her business in Bordeaux, where all of her incredibly gowns are skilfully made. It was when the Paris showroom opened around two years ago that Elise and her partner, Jean-Philippe got in touch and became a Rachel Simpson stockist. It’s safe to say we’ve not looked back since!
A couple of weeks ago we were invited to the launch of the Elise Martimort 2020 'Muse' Collection in Paris and as huge fans of her designer we of course went along. After an early Eurostar from London, we arrived to a beautiful airy warehouse in Galerie au Roi which was in the process of being transformed into the stunning venue for the evening’s show. Gorgeous foliage and grasses were being suspended from the ceiling, white voile curtains were being draped and models were having final a final run through in between dress fittings.
The evening began at 6.30pm when the great and good of the Paris bridal fashion world arrived in anticipation. It was a full house with a struggle even for standing room by the time the show began an hour later, and Elise and her team did not disappoint.
The show opened with a truly breathtaking contemporary performance by professional dancer, Olivia Maillard, looking effortless in a simple ivory slip dress with delicate crossover straps. This was followed by fourteen more brand new gowns from the forthcoming collection and I have to say, each was even more stunning than the next and all with a truly individual style. My particular favourite was a pale peach coloured gown with intricate embroidered flowers and a tiered hem- I’d definitely wear that to a red carpet event, not just as a wedding dress!
All the models wore gold Rachel Simpson shoes- either Gigi or Zadie. The effect of all eight models wearing them at the same time was amazing, and it was such a proud moment to see them walking down the catwalk! Elise herself wore a pair of Zadie, with the show’s choreographer, Stella in Gigi too!
After the show the champagne bottles popped, the canapés (and delicious handmade chocolates from Bordeaux) were consumed and we chatted with friends, family, press and brides from Paris and beyond.
Congratulations Elise and team on an incredible collection and wonderful launch!
