Choose classic ivory for your timeless wedding shoes
Posted on August 13 2020
Over the past few years coloured wedding shoes have become ever more popular, and pretty much anything goes now- blue, green, blush, red, yellow- you name it! But whilst many brides love the addition of a little pop of colour, just as many prefer sticking to tradition and opting for classic ivory wedding shoes.
Here at Rachel Simpson we're all for wearing whatever makes you feel the most confident, the most happy and of course the most comfortable. The number one most important thing about your wedding day is that you feel like you, so whatever wedding shoes you choose you've got to feel totally at ease with them. So if you're going to feel more like a 'bride' in traditional ivory then that's what you should wear- don't ever go for something you think you 'should', because it's in fashion.
So today we're taking an in depth look into a few of our classic ivory wedding shoes- and for classic, don't read boring by the way! Our shoes are anything but, and contrary to popular belief, it's just as easy to wear a pair of ivory shoes again after the wedding, that's not just for coloured wedding shoes you know! Team a pair of ivory heels with a spring floral dress for a garden party or Christening, or with jeans and a floaty white top for a summer's night out.
But before that it's about the big day itself, so back to those gorgeous ivory wedding shoes...
Cecelia in ivory white leather
Cecelia is a really elegant and understated shoe made from ivory white leather with large teardrop shaped straps in metallic gold. Whilst we say understated, when you see them on the foot they really do make a statement whether that's down to the gorgeous looping design, or the soft contrast between the ivory and gold.
We call the colour 'ivory white' because it's slightly brighter than our classic ivory leather which gives the shoe a really fresh, clean look and makes it stand out against any skin tone.
Sitting on a modest six centimetre heel (that's just over two inches), Cecelia is also truly effortless to wear so perfect if you don't want to wear a flat, but don't want the worry of a high heel.
Mimosa and Gardenia in ivory leather
For a true classic ivory wedding shoe look no further than our iconic Mimosa and Gardenia shoes. Both have a distinctive vintage influence and a very signature Rachel Simpson look, with appliquéd petal shapes sitting on a contrasting silver outline. The main shoe is made in a soft ivory leather and both have a silver t-bar which not only gives a really supportive fit, but also looks super flattering on the foot.
Mimosa sits on a mid height heel of eight and a half centimetres, whilst Gardenia is a little lower, at seven. Gardenia also has a slightly thicker heel which is perfect if you're getting married outdoors or will have to navigate a lot of cobbled streets or gravel on the big day.
Both shoes match perfectly with the specifically designed Mia clutch bag- which again has a similar vintage vibe and is a gorgeous shell shape. The Mia bag is just the right size to hold all your day to night essentials, and includes a detachable chain so you can wear it either over your shoulder or as a clutch.
Rosita in ivory suede
If you want a really romantic and feminine look, Rosita could be the wedding shoe for you. Made in beautifully soft ivory suede, there is something about the looped gold straps and intertwining t-bar which scream romance- or rather, softly whisper it! It's almost like a flower uncurling over your foot, the gold appliqués representing the petals and the twisted t-bar like a curling stem running up your foot.
Rosita is another one of those shoes which is simply effortless to wear, sitting on a super comfortable six centimetre (just over two inches) heel. The soft suede is incredibly comfortable from the moment you put them on, and the classic t-bar will hold you securely from day to dance floor with ease.
Clementine in ivory suede
Now an article about classic ivory wedding shoes wouldn't be complete without a timeless pointed bridal shoe. Clementine is one such shoe and possibly one of the most classically 'bridal' shoes in the collection. Of course she has a Rachel Simpson twist which gives her the distinctive vintage inspired style for which we're most well know, and we just love the overlapping scalloped panels which give Clementine an elegant Art Deco look.
Elegance doesn't have to mean a high heel of course, and Clementine is another shoe which has a gorgeous low heel- just six centimetres (just over two inches). She's the classic two part pointed wedding shoe and her timeless style will last a lifetime.
Wear with either the Sabine envelope, or the Freya shell shaped clutch to complete your classic yet uber stylish bridal look.
