Elegant shoes for a 1930's inspired wedding

If you're looking for a bridal look which positively oozes elegance, look no further than the thirties for inspiration. It's another of our favourite eras, when style was uber elegant whilst seemingly so effortless. Whether it's cascading golden silk or a long sleeved, buttoned gown we're all in for this elegance overload.

In the same way as styling a 1920s wedding look, there isn't just one option if you're after a thirties style. Here we've put together three very different 1930s looks, each which suit the period perfectly and which you can customise to suit your own unique style.

At RS we love the thirties as you probably know, and whilst you can style many of our shoes with this look, we've chosen three which we think work particularly well. Now pass us the faux fur wrap and a Dirty Martini...

 Glam golden tones

With our first thirties bridal look you would positively slink down that aisle! Super soft golden silk cascades to the floor, and we love how this Kate Beaumont gown has a sexy modern twist with a spaghetti halter neck and open back. Multiple buttons are a signature feature of a thirties style, and you can incorporate these in multiple ways- all the way down or just a small section as shown here.

With such a seemingly simple dress you can afford to go lux with your accessories, and we've paired this one with an ivory faux fur wrap from our friends at Silver Moon. Adding a bridal wrap is the perfect way to instantly create two separate looks for day and evening.

We've finished off with a stunning beaded Art Deco fan motif haircomb and our elegant Ophelia heels with matching Opal clutch. Divine.

Statement accessories

Our second look starts with a full sleeve, which we have to say we LOVE. You can find a wide variety of full length sleeve styles for a thirties gown whether straight, balloon or buttoned and they're all instantly reminiscent of the period. This Harrods gown brings the buttons to the front, with delicate lace outlining the neckline beautifully.

Again, accessories play a key role here and we've gone quite statement with an incredible 1930s inspired crown in gold and diamante, based on an Art Deco fan motif. Team this with a gold pendant which echoes the motifs and this truly is a gorgeous look.

Elegant shoes don't have to be heels and we've chosen our uber chic Amber ivory flats to compliment this look. Stunningly simple but with a signature Art Deco fan appliqué on one side, they sum up the 1930s era beautifully and if you need a clutch to carry your essentials our Coco vintage purse is the perfect partner.

 Evening elegance

We say 'evening elegance' but in truth our third look works equally well as a daytime look too- maybe ramp up the smoky eye a bit with a classic Bobbi Brown palette for the evening, but keep it natural during the day.

This look deserves a pair of our gorgeous Paloma t-bar courts- it's a timeless style with a true vintage vibe and we actually based the design on a classic 1930s look. The interlocking straps and diamond shaped cut outs are an iconic style of the period, and create a very graceful looking shoe. Complete the look with our chic Sabine clutch.

A soft hairvine works perfectly with this look, and we've gone for opals rather than diamante, paired with a chic backdrop necklace to compliment the cowl back of the gown. This look is all about elegance, but in a more subtle understated way.
