Real Bride Georgia and Pete's Contemporary Country Barn Wedding
Posted on June 24 2022
1. When and where did you get married?
We got married on the 4th June 2022 at The Rosebery Steading, just outside Edinburgh, Scotland. It was the hottest day in Scotland this year so far, and we managed to give our poor guests heatstroke rather than hangovers!
2. Tell us about the style of your wedding?
Rustic charm blended with contemporary design and country house interiors! Our venue was a converted steading and barn, so we had a rustic farm style to the day, with milk churn arrangements, old farmyard crates and barrels for poseur tables and displays. Along with long banquet seating in the barn for dinner, on bare wooden tables.
3. Who was your wedding dress by and where did you buy it?
My wedding dress was by Stella York, from Isabella Grace in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
4. Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?
I wore Erin Pearlised Ivory. Pearl is my birthstone, so my fashion theme was pearl featuring in my hairpieces and veil.
I loved that Erin was elegant, with a twist of sparkle on the heel. Knowing I had a bit of wow under my classic satin dress made it more fun, and what girl doesn’t love a bit of glitter!
5. Tell us about the BEST wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.
Our best wedding moment will certainly be our wedding breakfast. Our fantastic band had our guests up singing, on their chairs and dancing through main course. It was completely unexpected, and absolutely fantastic. Seeing everyone is such great spirits, celebrating so much love in the room, it wasn’t a formal breakfast that’s for sure! We even had a guest swinging a chandelier!
6. What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?
Our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing. Despite a lot of rigorous planning on my part, having someone to coordinate the day made it all happen. Wedding planners offer different levels of services, and the ‘on the day’ coordination I think is worth it’s weight in gold. It’s inexpensive in the grand scheme of things and gives you complete assurance that the day will run as it should. Tying together so many different suppliers and elements can be a tricky one! Get yourself an on the day coordinator!
7. What would your advice be for future brides?
Be in the moment, and forget about the rest. It was so important for me that I was so present, not worrying about timings or specific parts of the day. Delegate as much as you can and have your loved ones do it for you. Take moments to just watch what is happening, how your guests are celebrating and take it all in. You don’t want to miss a bit!
Planning my own wedding despite being the Senior Social Sales Manager and lead Wedding Planner for The Savoy was certainly eye opening. It gave me a whole other level of understanding of the emotional rollercoaster planning can sometimes be, and the total euphoria my Brides feel on the day and afterwards. I now have a whole new appreciation for my role and the privilege I have in helping create these stand out moments for people in their life.
Our wedding was postponed twice due to covid and at times we felt very defeatist, and considered a very small wedding at a registry office for just us two. We are so so glad we waited and went ahead with our plans. It was perfect!
