How to style a 1940's Wedding
Posted on May 21 2019

Vintage-inspired weddings are becoming more and more popular. One era brides seem to gravitate to is the 1940's. From the beautiful vintage dresses to the stunning shoes we are going to give you our top tips on how to style a 40's inspired wedding.
The Dress
When looking for a 40's dress, there are some details which are key for that vintage 40's look. Elegant long sleeves, either in luxurious silk or pretty lace really gives that 40's touch and is a strong trend in gowns this year. Necklines are high in a round or 'v' style, which is in fact very flattering. Sarah a Rachel Simpson bride show's us how it's done in her gorgeous silk vintage dress.

Accessories
Accessories in 1940's are really fun and can bring your whole look to life. There is so much you could go for to personalise your look, a beautifully embellished head piece, a delicate lace veil or a thin elegant belt to cinch in your waist. We really fell in love with the accessories Lucy put together to create her gorgeous 40's themed wedding.

Shoes
Our favourite part - the shoes! With the style of 40's dresses not being full length, it's the perfect style to really show off your dream wedding shoes. Enter Rachel Simpson shoes! Most of our styles have that vintage-inspired feel, so it's hard to choose which beautiful styles which would finish off a 40's look perfectly. Here is a couple..
Gigi
Gigi is very reminiscent of a bygone era- mainly due to the classic shape at the front of the shoe. Plus the peep toe is oh so flattering on the foot. Gigi comes in Silver and Gold.
Gardenia II
Gardenia is a true vintage shoe and even though the design is based more on the 1920's, it still compliments the 40's style with the slightly thicker heel.
A classic for the 40's were Mary Jane styles- pretty but also very comfy and practical. To make them more special Chloe has a accented gold heel which adds more glamour to the shoe and you can wear these shoes again and again after your big day!
We hope thats given you all the inspo to dream up and style your own 1940's wedding! To see more fabulous 1940's weddings click here.
