Real Bride Love Stories- Anna and Lukas

Today's love story is shared by real bride Anna and her husband Lukas. An intimate wedding set in picturesque Germany countryside, with charming and personal DIY wedding decor we just love.

Tell us a little bit about you as a couple?

Lukas and I are from Germany and met at work.  We knew each other for more than 3 years and fell in love while we were on a trip together with some co-workers. We both tried to fight our feelings towards each other because we were worried about our jobs. But in the end love always wins and we couldn’t be happier. After 3 years of dating, Lukas planned the proposal. Usually you can never hide any surprise from me but let me tell you, I really had no idea. We have talked about getting married a lot but every time someone asked us when we will get married he would say that where not in a hurry and waiting a little longer. On July 2018 we planned a little trip to the Zugspitze (which is the tallest mountain in Germany). On our way there I could tell Lukas was a little weird, so I got suspicious. We took the cable car and went up the Zugspitze. I was enjoying the beautiful view and when I turned around Lukas went down on one knee and popped the question. I really love how much thought he put into this day and he keeps making me the happiest girl in the universe.

Tell us about the wedding?

Lukas and I got married at a little castle in Vilseck, Gemany on our fourth anniversary. This beautiful location is only a 20-minute drive away from where we live and we loved it.

We said I do in the small chapel with our closest family members and then celebrated the day and night with our friends and families. I have a huge family but we decided to keep it small and only invite 60 people.

For us it was really important, that we could spend time with every guest and not hurry from on to the other. We both love crafting, so most of our decorations were handmade by us. Wedding planning was a true joy but also a little stressful when the wedding was only a few days away. We decorated the location with lots of candles to make it look really romantic.

Who was your wedding dress by? Why did you choose it/ makes it special to you?

My wedding dress was from Anna Kara. I never wanted a huge or heavy dress because I love to dance. I picked this dress because it felt perfect on me and I loved the lace details on the top. We added a few buttons on the back, a long simple veil and the prettiest waist belt in rose gold to make it the perfect outfit.

We both loved our outfits so much, so that we had an After Wedding Shooting at the location Lukas proposed to me. It was magical putting the wedding dress on again. I really recommend doing this because you’re not as nervous and the pictures turned out wonderful.

Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?

I fell in love with the Mimosa in rose gold long before we even got engaged. Aren’t those the prettiest shoes ever? I think you can tell rose gold is my favourite colour so I didn’t have a choice. 😊

Tell us about the BEST wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.

There are so many moments we love to think about but my favourite moment was, when Lukas and I saw each other for the first time in my moms garden. We were both really nervous and couldn’t hold back our happy tears.

What was your first dance song?

Our first dance song was La Vie En Rose sang by Daniela Andrade. We love the series How I Met Your Mother and always loved the song being played in one of the episodes. The first dance was perfect and we forgot all the people around us. We still dance to this song in our living room every now and then.

What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?

Always accept help. You don’t have to do this all by yourself. And really listen to your heart. Don’t let anyone tell you different. We had many people that told us how to do this and that but we really didn’t listen and made it the wedding of OUR dreams.

What would your advice be for future brides?

Take time with your husband. Get away from the crowd for a few minutes to take pictures or enjoy a glass of champagne. It’s your special day and you should enjoy it together. My favourite wedding memories are the ones alone with my husband. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the party though 😊. Don’t let anyone ruin your day.
