Real Brides- Charlotte and Horatio’s lakeside August wedding at Ardencote
Posted on March 16 2019
We are sent lovely stories and pictures of customers’ experiences with our shoes, which we love sharing in our Real Brides’ blog. After all, who better to show you how to #sayyesinRS!
Today we're at the wedding of Charlotte and Horatio, who tied the knot is August at a beautiful lakeside wedding at Ardencote, Warwickshire. "I loved my shoes, they were my 'something blue'", says beautiful bride Charlotte. "Such comfort and still look brand new after the big day. Thank you to my groom for purchasing them for me as I had been longing for them for a while! Also thank you Rachel Simpson for amazing quality and design shoes!" Aw, you're making us blush...
1. Tell us a little bit about you as a couple?
Myself and my now husband - Horatio – (sounds odd saying that, we have been together for five and a half years!), met at work and shared skills of different roles and developed into good friends first.
We live in a lovely village in Leicestershire and love being surrounded by green landscape to escape the city and access lovely walks on our days off.
2. Tell us about the wedding?
Our wedding was wonderful. I know it’s a cliché but really was the best day ever and will never forget that. This was at Ardencote in August 2018. We had our wedding at the lakeside venue and were lucky enough with the British weather to be outside for our ceremony on a wonderful lake. The pictures do look amazing, and the venue was great- cannot recommend them enough.
3. Tell us about the BEST wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.
I think this will be when I was stood at the Altar and the registrar was going through everything- Horatio took my hand and looked at me and then knew we were really doing this! Also my Dad's speech, as he had been so nervous and is not a public speaker- he did amazingly.
4. What is your top tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?
I think mine would be lists - make a list of what you do/don’t want from a venue before seeing any and then you won’t be swayed to something you don’t really want, but obviously there will be some compromises. Near the day make notes or mark in diary important dates to plan, pay or do stuff by - like any DIY tasks done every other week- slow and steady rather than stressed and rushed at the end.
5. Tell us all about your incredible dress!
My wedding dress was by Stella York, bought from “Dress Me Pretty” in Hinckley. It took me a while and trying on LOTS of dresses to find the one- but it’s true - when you find it- you really do know. My dress was my “something new”, and what made my outfit unique was a veil that was specially made as I simply wanted it plain and hip length.
My “something old” was a ring belonging to my grandmother, who is no longer with us. This was stitched inside the lining of my dress- close to my heart so as to have piece of her with me on the day. My "something borrowed" was the pearl necklace I wore, wrapped twice around my ankle from one of my bridesmaids!
6. Which Rachel Simpson shoe did you choose for your wedding day?
I wore Mimosa in blue. I had been looking at them for a while longingly but nowhere local stocked them to try on. Then my bridal shop happened to begin stocking them - so must be a sign! Actually my husband bought them for me from my bridal shop as a surprise, which they kept secret along with him. My Rachel Simpson shoes were of course my “something blue”.
Congratulations Charlotte and Horatio- what a gorgeous couple full of happiness and smiles! xx
