Real Bride- Stefanie and Matthias's Natural Boho Wedding

1. When and where did you get married?
We got married on March 5th 2022 in Feldkirchen an der Donau- a small village in Upper Austria that is next to river danube and close to an area with some artificial lakes. The wedding location was the restaurant “Thalhammer’s” and has its own beach and terrace at one of the lakes. We chose the date as we always wanted to marry in winter or early spring and moreover this date is the birthday of my dad and one day after the birthday of my father in law- so we had a wedding + birthdays celebration.
2. Tell us about the style of your wedding?
We both don’t like to exaggerate things. We love things to be natural. And that was the style throughout the wedding. All the decoration we did ourselves and everything was kind of boho style as it was easier to work with dry flowers due to winter time.
Moreover we already could do all the preparations and hand crafting during COVID lockdown and during Christmas holiday and so the days before the wedding were pretty relaxed.
3. Who was your wedding dress by and where did you buy it?
Also with the wedding dress and my wedding style I wanted to keep it natural. I didn’t want to look like a stranger and completely different than usually. The dress was handmade by my cousin Romana (@atelier.romana) who is a designer. She spent so many hours in sewing and fitting. I couldn’t be more thankful. And it really was the absolute perfect dress and exactly how I imagined it!
4. Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?
I found the Rachel Simpson Candyfloss gold in the bridal store “Brautzimmer” in Salzburg and I completely fell in love. However, I didn’t think of wearing them for my wedding first, rather for other events or as a guest. But when my dress was ready I realised that exactly those shoes would fit best. And so I bought them. The ladies from “Brautzimmer” even were so kind to send them, so I didn’t have to go there again, as it would have been a 1,5 hours drive. Definitely those shoes were the best decision: I walked, danced and even ran that day and I didn’t feel any pain in my feet. And they simply looked great with the dress.

5. Tell us about the best wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.
That moment my husband sang and played (guitar) the song “Something” from the Beatles for me on stage.
6. What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?
Don’t make it too complicated. The most important thing is that it’s your day. Enjoy the time before the wedding and also the day with that ONE person and the beloved people in your life. I guess many people forget what it is really about when they try to plan every single detail at perfection.
7. What would your advice be for future brides?
Be yourself and don’t disguise as someone else on your day! You are the one and this is why the person you love wants to marry you!
It is now exactly 4 months that we are married and every day makes our life even more beautiful. When looking back to our wedding day we both repeatedly summarise that it was simply perfect! But what made our wedding so perfect were the people who spent the day with us, our family and friends. It is not the decoration (even though that was absolutely beautiful) or suit or dress or cake that you mainly keep in your memories, it is the people you talked to, that you danced and laughed with and that you embraced.
Thank you to Stefanie and Matthias for sharing their day with us.
