Style the Winter Sale: Shoes for a Fifties Wedding Theme
Posted on January 03 2020
Are you a big of a fan of all things fifties? Like to channel a little bit of Marilyn Monroe or Grace Kelly? We don't blame you- there is something timelessly chic about the era, and whereas earlier decades such as the 30s and 40s had an elegant, perhaps slightly serious edge, things got fun in the fifties!
To get a fifties wedding look you can't beat a tea or ballet length dress. There are some fantastic ones from Mooshki, many combining vintage 1950s lace with soft tulle to create an elegant, sophisticated look. Wear with a flare petticoat for added authenticity.
You can even add a subtle pop of colour into this look whist keeping it beautifully bridal, by adding a coloured dress under ivory lace. We love the blush example below!
Of course you could find an original vintage 1950s wedding dress if you really want to go for it, such as the fab find below we found on Etsy. Just remember there may be a lot more work with an original vintage wedding dress but if you find The One it can be well worth it.
We particularly love this look as it's perfect for showing off a great pair of shoes! Team it with a kitten heel for an authentic retro look. There are two perfect low heeled shoes in our winter sale, so not only are they the perfect shoes for a fifties wedding but they're also a bit of a bargain!
First up is the super cute Trixie-Belle, a gorgeous ivory mesh peep-toe, with a polka dot pattern and pearlised ivory leather binding. The front of the shoe is embellished with a stunning double bow embellishment, which sits proudly and makes just enough of a statement, without being over the top! As we said- elegant but fun!
Next up is the fab Pixie-Beau- a low heeled point wedding shoe made from the same polka dot ivory mesh as Trixie-Belle. A timeless slingback, this truly authentic 1950s style shoe is again stylishly finished with an oversized double bow- the perfect combination of elegance and fun!
A super cute little box bag is a must have to complete the perfect 1950s wedding look, and they don't come much cuter than the Zahara clutch. Made from the matching polka dot mesh over ivory satin, the box frame is metallic gold with a vintage style kiss lock fastening. It's just the right size for your lippie, compact and tissues- what more does a fifties bride need?!
So whatever you go for, if you're planning a 1950s style wedding look no further than our big winter sale for the perfect shoe and bag combo!
