The new Autumn Winter collection- Q&A with Rachel Simpson
Posted on September 20 2020

The new Rachel Simpson Autumn Winter 2020 Collection launched last week and today we catch up with Rachel to talk through the inspiration behind it, as well as the new styles she loves...
Why did you decide on berry as the next colour for Mimosa?
We've had our eye on rich berry tones for a while now- it's the perfect shade for autumn and winter weddings and the colour always reminds me of things like berries and mulled wine! It really compliments natural green shades too and works really well with seasonal foliage like eucalyptus, viburnum and winter grasses.
Berry is also a really strong trend for Autumn Winter 2020/21 and having seen it on the catwalks it's now starting to filter into the high street (which I'm very happy about!). It's a great colour for wedding shoes because it's a real statement colour but in a really subtle, sumptuous way. You can even match it with a strong berry lip or nail varnish which looks amazing!
How did you decide on Cecelia as the new forest green shoe?
Lots of our brides have been asking for a low heeled forest green wedding shoe for a while now- pretty much since we launched the super popular Mimosa forest green! We could have designed a new shoe but in all honesty we've been wanting to add a second colour of the gorgeous Cecelia ever since she first launched. Cecelia is the perfect shoe because of the metallic gold detailing, which contrasts beautifully with the rich forest green.
I'm really excited about having a low heeled forest green in the collection and hope everyone who's been messaging us will be too!
Tell us about the new bags
So we have two new clutches in the AW20 collection which match the new styles perfectly, but the nice thing is they also work on their own too. We obviously wanted to launch one in our delicious new berry suede and Iona was just perfect for that. It's a classic envelope clutch and it really shows off how stunning the colour is.
Our other new bag for autumn is Opal in forest green suede. Just as you guys have been asking for a low heeled forest green shoe, you've also been after a bag to match. Opal is such a great shape and size, and just like Cecelia forest green shoe, I love the contrast between the deep, rich green and classic, metallic gold.
What's your favourite shoe from the new Autumn Winter collection?
Ooh it's always tricky having to pick a favourite, but if I had to it would probably be Isadora Berry because I wore the dusky blue ones for my wedding! It's just such a gorgeous Art Deco style which works perfectly with the rich berry colour. I'd wear them with a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and an understated black top and let my shoes do the talking!
Isn't there any sparkle in the collection?
Not in the Autumn/ Winter collection but keep an eye out for our limited edition Party Collection which launches on 23rd October. Now that is sparkly... :)
