Wedding Wednesday- Claire and Adrian's Vintage Relaxed Wedding
Posted on August 28 2019
On this Wedding Wednesday we share with you Claire and Adrian's relaxed vintage wedding. Claire and Adrian met on a blind date in 2012 and 6 years later in December 2018 they tied the knot in the beautiful setting of Tasmania Australia. A lovely relaxed wedding day spent with their friends and family.
1. Tell us a bit about the wedding?
I would describe our day as casual, fun, quick and utterly beautiful! Our aim was for a vintage theme to our day; our colour theme was ivory, green (I called it succulent green) and pale apricot. We were married in a small hall about 5 minutes from our house. We also held the reception in the same location to avoid travel.
My husband and I hired a garden nearby for our photographs.
We had a morning wedding followed by food trucks consisting of tacos and soft serve ice cream for lunch!
We provided a full bar of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.
Our only formality was the cutting of the beautiful cake made by my sister (chocolate mud cake and mocha mud cake).
I made each child a ‘party bag’ filled with fun activities, disposable cameras and a small toy. They spent the day racing cars up and down the aisle.
2. Who was your wedding dress by? Why did you choose it/ makes it special to you?
I wanted my dress to match the theme of our wedding day…comfortable, vintage and ivory. It was the only dress I tried on and cost a total of $150! It was perfect! I just adored the length…it allowed for splurging on beautiful shoes and my denim jacket for a bit of fun! It was from a store in Australia called Forever New.

3. Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?
I chose the Isla Ivory (and matching bag, Imogen) as I wished for a low heel and vintage feel. I adored the T bar style! I wore them sitting on the couch a few times prior to the wedding but otherwise didn’t ‘wear them in’ as I didn’t want them to get dirty! I wore them from 10.30am until close to 6pm when we arrived at our hotel with no issues or soreness at all!

4. Tell us about the best wedding moment?
Having my children walk me down the aisle! And holding my son during the signing (he was a little overwhelmed by all the people)! It was so special and important to have them as part of our day.
5. What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?
When we started planning our wedding we booked a garden wedding and a sit down formal lunch. The stress of trying to organise the set up and decorating on the wedding morning was massive! We quickly changed our way of thinking and went for a more casual feel and a space we could access the day prior! We also employed the services of ‘Style My Day’ to undertake the set up and pack down. We hired 90% of our items from her catalogue! Nina was a dream! She understood my ramblings…she even provided staff for our bar!
My top tip is invest in ANYTHING that brings down your stress levels and lets you enjoy the day!!! Money well worth spent!
6. What would your advice be for future brides?
Make it your day! Don’t do things just to please others! If you don’t want to have speeches…don’t! If you don’t want to leave for photographs…don’t! Make it your day and your day only!
Thank you to Claire and Adrian for sharing their day with us. What a beautiful day it was- all the small touches really worked to create that 'vintage' feel and I love the idea of the succulents in the teacups- might have to steal that idea!
