Wedding Wednesday- Emma and Adam's Lavender Stately Home Wedding
Posted on October 09 2019
This Wedding Wednesday we share with you Emma and Adam's wedding. They met back in 2011 and 5 years later in Rome, Adam proposed. They finally married at the beautiful Samlesbury Hall in Preston, Lancashire in November 2018. And now we get to share their special day with you held in a gorgeous Stately Home.
1. Tell us about the wedding?
When looking for a venue we knew we wanted somewhere with character, and obviously somewhere beautiful. When we pulled up at Samlesbury Hall and saw its amazing black and white exterior we knew we'd found what we had been looking for.
We walked into the great hall it took our breath away, we definitely knew we needed to book and we confirmed the date there and then!
We chose a colour theme of lavender with lots of foliage through the venue.
We had the ceremony in the venue's chapel under an arch of foliage and an aisle of lanterns and rose petals, and dined under the venues grand festoon chandelier which we also dressed in fresh foliage.
We chose to have artificial flowers alongside the fresh foliage so we could take them home and keep forever, they looked just as beautiful and we couldn't have been happier with how our vision turned out.
2. Who was your wedding dress by?
My dress was a beautiful princess dress by Ronald Joyce. I've always wanted to wear the princess style, who doesn't want to be a princess for the day?! I really struggled to find the 'perfect dress' as my criteria was so specific, it had to be princess, off the shoulder, jewel belt and no lace.
The dress I eventually chose felt extra special to me as it was picked by my mum. I had previously said no to trying it on but once I did I had the feeling and knew it was the one, mums always know best! After a few custom alterations to make it off the shoulder it was my perfect dress.
4. Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?
Rachel Simpson shoes caught my eye as soon as I got engaged. The designs are so pretty and elegant, and my maiden name was Simpson so it was a no brainer really! I wanted something a little different and better quality to the generic wedding shoes you find on the high street, and that's when I found the Gabriella shoe! I fell in love with the flower detail and that they were blush coloured, not just your usual white wedding shoe. Not to mention they were super comfortable on the day!! I felt very special in my gorgeous shoes, and they are now safely packed away ready for me to present to my daughter for her wedding.

5. Tell us about your best wedding moment?
The best part of the day was obviously becoming Mr and Mrs Zullo, and being able to share that with all our friends and family who had traveled from as far as Italy and Australia.
But a stand out part of the day for us was our first dance. We chose to learn a Waltz routine for our first dance to surprise our friends and family. We had been taking lessons for months prior to the big day so we could pull it off and not look like we had two left feet! Extra special that our dance teacher was also my bridesmaid. On the night we took to the floor and our guests went wild, we waltzed to Ed Sheeran - Perfect, and it was well... perfect.
6. What's your Top Tip for wedding planning?
My tip for planning the day is to stay calm and enjoy the process! Bringing your vision to life is so satisfying when you see it on the big day. Trust your suppliers, they know what they're doing and they can take a lot of the stress away. I am a venue dresser myself and trust me we want your day to be as beautiful as you do! Stay organised, my 'bride to be' notebook was a godsend during the planning process, and trust your gut. You could spend forever looking for suppliers, so when you get a good feeling about someone don't let them go!
8. What would your advice be for future brides?
Don't stress about your budget! You can make a perfect day whatever your budget. Ours was small in comparison to the average wedding price in the UK, and we wouldn't have had it any other way! Overall just have fun, you'll only plan a wedding once so enjoy it!
