Wedding Wednesday- Jenifer and Paul's Rustic Spanish Wedding

On today's Wedding Wednesday we're so happy to share with you this beautiful nature-inspired wedding set in sunny Spain. I think you'll agree that Jenifer and Paul look truly happy and like they've had the best day! This wedding was a joy to read and we wish Jenifer and Paul all the happiness in the world.

Tell us a little bit about you as a couple

I'm originally from Spain and Paul's from Ireland. We met in Manchester 5 years ago, where we still live. After 4 years of dating Paul was planning to propose on a trip we planned to the Amalfi Coast. However, in the end, we were unable to travel to Italy and we got engaged in Kuala Lumpur overlooking the Petronas Towers- what a spectacular day!

Wedding Wednesday

Tell us about the wedding

We chose to celebrate our big day in Cantabria (Spain) which is where I'm from. It was a great decision as most of our guests felt like they were on holiday! Our wedding venue was in a small property in the countryside surrounded by nature.

Our theme was a simple romance with pastel colours and rustic furniture.

Tell us about your wedding dress

The wedding dress was probably the part I was most nervous about because I did not have a clear idea of what I was looking for. The dress I chose wasn’t at all what I thought I would go for, but Cruz (the dress consultant at Pronovias) made my dreams come true with her creativity and transformed my dress by adding a detachable skirt to it. I removed the skirt just before our first dance and this allowed me to enjoy the evening on the dance floor, plus it looked like I was wearing a second dress!

Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?

I chose Mimosa Ivory as I wanted a vintage touch with a lower heel. I wanted to dance and I would not let my shoes ruin that! My shoes were beautiful and comfortable and I even danced Irish dancing with them in honor of my now husband and our guests from Ireland!

Tell us about the best wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.

I find it really difficult to choose only one moment because the whole day was perfect for us.

There was a moment during the civil ceremony that we chose to commemorate our marriage through the celebration of a sand ceremony. Two vases of sand symbolised our separate lives before we found each other. Mine contained sand from Spain and Paul’s sand from Ireland. We sealed our bond by blending the two individual vases together. By blending sand together we recognized the importance of blending two families together.

What was your first dance song?

Our first dance song was Flying without wings by Westlife. I know, it sounds cheesy! But this is the song we heard on the streets of Malaysia when we just got engaged and we thought that was a sign.

What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?

Celebrate every little thing you organise because the big day goes extremely fast. Enjoy a glass of champagne when you receive the wedding invitations or have a romantic dinner when you plan your honeymoon. We made a little celebration for everything we planned, this made the planning as special as the wedding day.

What would your advice be for future brides?

Delegate little jobs to people you trust so you don’t feel under pressure or stressed just before the wedding. And don’t be afraid of saying no if there is something you don’t like, at the end of the day it is your wedding!

Thanks so much to Jenifer and Paul for sharing their day with us- such a gorgeous day! If you would like to share you're wedding with us please email us at, we always love to see your pictures.
