Wedding Wednesday- Jess and Adam's rustic barn wedding

Jessica and Adam got married 31st March 2018, Easter Saturday at Bordesley Park in Worcestershire, Jess gives us an insight into their special day.

Did you have a particular theme for the wedding?

We chose a simple and rustic theme to compliment the wedding venue. Bordesley Park is set in the middle of the Worcestershire countryside in a modern converted barn (Bishops Barn) with a separate barn for reception drinks and a outdoor marquee. I particularly loved the outside cocktail bar!

The cocktail bar and pizza were served from 9pm onwards!

What was your theme? (flowers / location / bridesmaids colours)

I didn't want a specific colour theme but wanted to keep all the colours quite neutral using green, white and lilac as our main pallet colours which was complimented by my wedding flowers which consisted of lilac heather, lavender, white thistle, dried poppy heads, white Veronica, lisianthus & lots of soft greenery including some ferns.

Bridesmaids dresses from ASOS

Who was your dress designer?
My dress was designed by an Australian designer: Sophia Tolli and my dress was called Rexana in alabaster ivory (which was the warmest tone - I decided I didn't want white or Ivory as I have an olive skin tone I felt a darker colour was more complimentary)

Which shoes did you pick and why?
I knew I wanted blue wedding shoes as my "something blue" I am luckily enough to be very good friends with Katie, the senior designer at Rachel Simpson who designed my perfect wedding shoes "Amalia Blue".This colour way was suppose to be unique for me but Rachel loved it so much she put it in the main collection! I was privileged enough to be the first bride to wear the shoes! Having my friend design them was so special!

The heel height was perfect for me as I normally stick to a thick block heel I was unsure how a I would get on with a thinner heel especially on my wedding day but they were perfect! I loved the additional support via the ankle strap they were so comfortable and still had them on my feet at 4AM the following morning!

Katie also had them engraved for me as a surprise at my hen do which made them even more personal, it was such a lovely touch.

What was most important to you about the day?

To marry the love of my life. I enjoyed planning all the small details but on the day the venue could have been ablaze and I wouldn't have even noticed!

The ultimate 'we did it' face!

First dance song?

We chose Big Mountain- Let's Stay Together.

Most people know the original by Al Green which was great as everyone joined in to sing the words, Big Mountain play a reggae version which we love and is a bit more fun! Adam and I were really dreading the first dance as we are both blessed with left feet however by the time the first dance came around the beer had flowed and I absolutely loved it and it was actually one of my highlights of the day.

Favourite bit of the day or the experience?

I thoroughly enjoyed planning and attending wedding fairs and open days picking themes and ideas from other weddings. The whole build up is part of the magic!

I was actually luckily enough to win a photobooth at a wedding show- so it just goes to show they're definitely worth going to, for a bit of fun and inspo.. The photobooth was so much fun though.. I think you can tell from the photos!

My favourite bit of the day was the ceremony, from the moment I walked down the stairs and saw my Dad I knew it would be everything I had dreamt of.

Jessica with both her parents- a proud moment

The ceremony was so romantic and definitely memorable as the best man dropped the wedding rings down the aisle! Whoops!
