Wedding Wednesday- Rebecca and David's Floral Great Gatsby Wedding

For today's Wedding Wednesday we are sharing a wedding oozing with Glamour and Hollywood charm, set in beautiful Phoenix Arizona. David and Rebecca have been together for 5 years. They met each other working at a Visual Effects (VFX) Company for movies in Los Angeles. David is an artist and Rebecca a Software Engineer. David found every excuse to say his computer wasn’t working for Rebecca to come to talk to him. The rest is history! David and Rebecca nerd out over the same things, they both love movies, video games but even more so than that they love their families and cute romantic dates like going on picnics together!

Tell us about the wedding- theme, location, colours etc.

Theme: tons of florals with elements of art deco and old Hollywood charm – think the scene from the new Great Gatsby when they’re in the greenhouse.

Flowers were so important to me since my mom is a 3rd generation florist. Although she did not do our flowers for our wedding, it was something I grew up with and wanted it to be the main component of our wedding.

Colours: white, off whites, champagne, light pinks, greens and a hint of black and gold/bronze (we couldn’t decide haha)

Who was your wedding dress by? Why did you choose it/ makes it special to you?

My dress was by Cortana, a designer from Spain. This dress is timeless, unique, romantic and most importantly comfortable. I wanted something that wasn’t ordinary and between the asymmetry and the material, I just fell in love. I purchased it at Loho (League of her own) Bride in Los Angeles. It’s special to me because it’s timeless and likely can be worn again ;)

Which Rachel Simpson shoes did you pick and why?

Mimosa T-Strap Heels in Mint! Since I wanted to have that eclectic feel of 20/30s Hollywood, I knew right away I wanted to purchase Rachel Simpson shoes! I wanted a subtle but sweet pop of color that complimented all of our other elements while still tying into the champagne color of my dress.

Tell us about the BEST wedding moment, something that will be unforgettable to you.

Oh gosh..there’s so many but I’ll limit it to two

Intimate moment: When David and I wrote, then read our vows together in a back and forth cadence. We didn’t realize how much a hit it would be but we truly felt we were in a pure moment of love.

D: I vow to always make you laugh

R: I vow to always make you smile

D: I vow to always keep you strong

R: I vow to always keep you sweet

Party moment: When I served David gelato from Frost Gelato. The best part about this is that David always gives me a hard time that I share the same story about my first job at a gelato shop.."Have I ever told you I worked at a gelato shop?" Now I can add to that story and say remember that time I served you gelato at our wedding :D

What was your first dance song?

Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – Chris Isaak

What is your Top Tip for wedding planning, what brought everything together?

Hiring at a minimum a “day of” wedding planner so you can just enjoy the day. Our planner Janet went above and beyond and had almost a min by min dossier of where everyone should be and what they should be doing. It put all of us at ease and we were able to enjoy the day!

What would your advice be for future brides?

Do your research beforehand so you have a vision going in. Luckily my mom had so many connections and we had such wonderful vendors at our arms reach but they thanked us time and time again for providing a vision and direction. Also, just let the little things go, it’s not worth it!

Thanks so much to Rebecca and David for sharing their day with us. What a stunning wedding. If you would like to share you're wedding with us please email us at, we always love to see your pictures.
