Why blue wedding shoes are perfect for your 'something blue'
Posted on June 22 2022

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... We're all familiar with the old proverb which tells brides what they need for a happy marriage (want to know more? Check our our wedding superstitions blog), but do you know what you'll choose as your something blue yet? Well unsurprisingly we're here to suggest shoes! But why we hear you cry? Dear reader, read on...
1. Blue is the colour
Now whilst you might not think so, blue is actually an incredibly versatile colour. It pops beautifully against crisp white and classic ivory, but isn't overpowering like a bold red or a dark green (not that we don't love those, but it's a different look!). There is something wonderfully timeless about ivory and blue, it's a classic combination which lasts the test of time.
2. Compliment with your bridesmaids
In recent years we've seen the trend for blue bridesmaid dresses explode. Whether it's soft baby blue, vintage inspired cornflower blue, classic navy blue or rich royal blue, it's definitely a colour of the moment. There are so many amazing blue bridesmaid dresses on the market you can easily match your shoes to your bridesmaids for a beautifully co-ordinated bridal party. In fact, why not match with the groom and ushers too with blue or patterned ties and pocket squares?
3. You can wear blue shoes again
It's true, you can certainly wear a pair of ivory wedding shoes again, but are perhaps a little more limited than if you go for a coloured pair. As we've said, blue is a gorgeously versatile colour which you can easily wear again after the big day- pair with with jeans and an oversized white shirt or a ditsy floral print tea dress for the win.
