The thing which really sets Amalia apart is the stunning embellishment on the front of the shoe. It’s made up of marquise shaped diamante and tiny little gold plated leaves- all twined together with delicate twisted gold wire. Every embellishment is hand made by award winning accessories brand Laurel Lime, and is like a beautiful piece of jewellery in it’s own right. For that reason we kept the design of the shoe fairly simple- a classic Rachel Simpson t-bar with an elegant peep-toe. It was really important that we chose the right colours for Amalia, and made sure they complimented the gold metal work. We went for suede rather than leather, because it gives an overall softer look which works perfectly with such a feminine, romantic shoe. We chose gold leather for the t-bar, to compliment the gold metalwork and add a lovely contrast to the soft suede. It also makes for a really comfortable shoe, as you just put them on, buckle them up and you’ll feel supported all day long- one of the many reasons we love a t-bar!
There’s a bit of a story behind how Amalia came to be. When we designed it we weren’t completely sure what we were going to have on the front of the shoe, we just knew we wanted a really pretty, colourful t-bar so we’d sampled the shoe and were playing around with ideas. There were some Fern Hairpins in the design office and one of us picked them up and placed them on the front of the shoe to see what this would look like. It worked really well, so after a meeting with Becky from Laurel Lime, she came up with the final design and a shoe was born. It’s not the usual kind of trim to put on a shoe as it’s so delicate, and our factory thought we were mad- but that’s not unusual! We’re glad we persevered and judging by Amalia’s popularity we think you are too.
To complete the look, wear with our Coco mint green suede bag.
Amalia is pretty true to size so we recommend ordering your usual size. The soft suede will also give during wear.
