We get a lot of people asking us for flats, and have created various styles over the years, but perhaps none so understated and pretty as Sorento. This gorgeous ballerina was designed as part of our destination collection, using a lovely lightweight mesh decorated with little ivory flowers, with really fine ivory leather binding going all the way around the top. We wanted to create a flat which was really versatile, so it could go with lots of different looks but without being boring. What we particularly love about Sorento is the soft V-shape at the front- this is a feature you’ll often see on shoes from the forties and fifties, and gives the shoe a slightly more elegant look than if it was a more traditional round shape. Particularly with a flat shoe, you have to be careful not to make it look too ‘little girly’, and by adding this subtle but effective feature it is definitely anything but. It’s also nice because it compliments the actual shape of the shoe, which is a lovely cross between a point and a softer, rounded almond toe shape. By keeping the front part of the shoe quite short, and adding the V-shape, we’ve made sure that no matter what size you wear, it’s really flattering on. When we originally did the photoshoot for our destination collection, we teamed Sorento with a pair of cropped white trousers on the model and it looked amazing- a really chic, honeymoon on the Riviera type look. Similarly we’ve styled it with various wedding and occasion dresses since it launched which looks equally effective, and that’s what we love so much about Sorento- it’s a really versatile shoe. On it’s own is looks great, but you can also add a shoe clip if you wanted a little something extra- for example a pair of sparkle shoe clips would take it from day to night in an instant.
